Mission

Tortuga (Turtle in Spanish) is named in honour of the sea turtle. Symbolizing wisdom in many ancient cultures, the turtle represents constancy and what we feel is our accountability to nature through our actions. Much like the turtle cannot separate from its shell, we too cannot separate from our impact on the Earth.

The mission of Tortuga Films is to create documentary and fiction films with the goal to entertain and open social forums of discussion that lead to solutions motivating change. Whether it is in the form of series or one-off films, Tortuga Films deal with subject matter that is social, political and environmental in nature to increase people’s understanding and awareness of the issue and their part in creating change.
